Sherri Chessen  The Gorp's Gift Teacher's GuideUsing the book, the Gorp's Gift, with its interactive pledge and Teacher's Guide, is a proven natural for teaching Violence Prevention. Classroom presentations have shown that the children not only 'get' Gorp's message of non- violence and peaceful conflict resolution, but they remember it, too. ARISE Foundation ARISE Life Management Skills Program The ARISE Foundation has developed a statistically proven life management skills program for at-risk youth in grades pre-K to 12. Their site offers instructor manuals and supplemental materials for 40 life skills topics specifically designed for students who have yet to learn how to learn. William Mastrosimone Bang Bang You're Dead (a play) This play is designed for students to perform with minimal production values. The script, as well as follow-up discussion questions, can be downloaded for free. Operation Respect Operation Respect Programs This non-profit organization works to create compassionate, safe and respectful environments for kids through programs that reduce the cruelty children inflict upon each other by through ridicule, bullying and violence. It has developed the Don't Laugh at Me programs, for grades 2-5, grades 6-8, for summer camps and for after- school programs. Educators for Social Responsibility Resolving Conflict Creatively Program The Resolving Conflict Creatively Program (RCCP) is a comprehensive school-based program in conflict resolution and inter-group relations that provides a model for preventing violence and creating caring and peaceable communities of learning. National Fire Protection Association Risk Watch: Unintentional Injuries Risk Watch is a comprehensive injury prevention program available for use in schools that gives children and their families the skills and knowledge they need to create safer homes and communities. This school-based curriculum is divided into five age-appropriate teaching modules from Pre-K to grade 8, with specific materials written for parents on firearm injury prevention. Committee for Children Second Step: A Violence Prevention Program Second Step is a school-based social skills curriculum for preschool through junior high that teaches children to change the attitudes and behaviors that contribute to violence. Southern Poverty Law Center Teaching Tolerance Teaching Tolerance is a national education project dedicated to helping teacher's foster equity, respect, and understanding in the classroom and beyond. The Bureau For At-Risk Youth The Bureau For At-Risk Youth is an educational publisher and distributor of programs, videos, publications, and products for youth at-risk and their caregivers. Started in 1990, The Bureau supplies innovative, high-quality, user-friendly resources that help children; teens, parents, educators, and others cope with the many vital issues facing today's youth.
