observed in schools throughout the country on
October 24, 2007,
a day of national concern about young people and
gun violence. The pledge encourages young people
to take a proactive stance in reducing gun
violence.
National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and Crime Prevention Coalition of America, 10/3/2007 This conference is where youth and their adult allies can find inspiration, valuable skills, prevention knowledge, and national resources in the fight against crime, violence, and drugs. In Atlanta, Georgia from October 3-5, 2007. American Association of Suicidology, 9/9/2007 The theme for this year is "40 Years of Suicide Prevention: Moving Forward with Education and Training." The website has a Community Education Packet ready for download. National Youth Violence Prevention Campaign, 7/17/2007 National Youth Violence Prevention Week The National Youth Violence Prevention Campaign is having a week long education initiative with various activities that will demonstrate the positive role young people can have in making their schools and communities safer. The initiative, intended to be held within individual schools, will offer advice on how to form in-school coalitions, engage communities, gain publicity, and conduct activities. The ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Campaign, 6/21/2007 National ASK Day The ASK Campaign urges parents to ASK if there are guns in the homes where their children play. ASK Day has been created to help parents and others spread this important message in neighborhoods and communities across America.
